Oil sludge catcher

Oil sludge catcher

Description of equipment

Oil sludge catchers are used for “rough” purification of oil, in other words – for the removal of large mechanical impurities (oil sludge) from crude oil by means of gravity sedimentation and further separation of sediment (oil sludge) from oil, which is removed for further purification from small mechanical impurities.

Operating principle

The oil sludge catcher is a rectangular vessel. Oil with a suspension of mechanical impurities (oil sludge) enters the oil sludge catcher. With the help of scrapers, the oil sludge rises from the bottom of the vessel to the slotted mesh installed in the upper part of the tank, and passes through it with particles not larger than 1 mm into the unloading screw, with the help of which they are removed through the pipe for re-processing. The scrapers are attached to the chain, which is driven by sprockets mounted on the drive shaft and the gear motor of the main drive. The screw is rotated by the gear motor.

Oil with fine particles moves to the tank, where it is settled during breaks in the oil pumping cycle. The settled particles are removed from the bottom of the tank with scrapers of the reverse branch of the conveyor and rise to the slotted mesh. The purified oil is discharged into the tank by a pump controlled by a level sensor. Also the oil sludge catcher is equipped with a branch pipe for full emptying of the vessel.

Frequently asked questions about sludge catchers
What are vegetable oil sludge catchers?
Oil sludge catchers are devices for purifying vegetable oil from the sludge that is formed as a result of oil production.
What is the capacity of a vegetable oil sludge catchers?
The capacity of the oil sludge catchers depends on the model and can vary from 120 to 360 tons of oil per day.
What are the advantages of using oil sludge catchers for vegetable oil?
The use of oil sludge catchers can significantly improve the quality of vegetable oil by separation of sludge. It also increases the shelf life of the oil and preserves its flavor and nutritional properties.
